I have had to visit this clinic 3 times. And all 3 times (apart from my own health problems) I was very pleased. All the staff are very friendly, compassionate, and emotionally intelligent. Very nice when you come with concerns. All the examinations they perform are clearly explained, and the doctors are very skilled. It is also nice to see that a lot of cleaning is done; very hygienic.
I felt very comfortable as a patient at MedExpress Hospital. My wife was also able to stay overnight with me without any problems, which we greatly appreciated. The food was good, and they even arranged a driver so we could pick up fresh clothes from the hotel and return safely.
The care was extremely professional and reminded us of Switzerland – everything was taken seriously, and they dedicated a lot of time to me. Many thanks to the entire team!

Over the past few days, both my sons have been in the hospital. During this time, they both received wonderful care from the staff. They did everything they could to ensure things went as smoothly as possible and to provide the right care.
All children unfortunately caught strep and had 40 degrees temperature. I had a fast examination and hospital admittance and the level or service and infrastructure was incomparable to any other in Zanzibar I would recommend this hospital over any other in Zanzibar thank you!
Doctor Konstantyn had the horrible task of cutting my foot which was badly infected from stepping into “something”. I can not rate Doctor Konstantyn highly enough. He is the calmest, kindest and most knowledgeable person I have met. I cursed, cried, kicked and hit, but he did the job most wonderfully.
Also the staff that took my blood & bloodpressure as well as reception are all super caring and friendly.

Trafiłam do tej kliniki w bardzo kiepskim stanie, z bakteryjnym zapaleniem układu pokarmowego. Opieka jaka tu dostałam była niesamowita, czułam się zaopiekowania, kiedy tylko potrzebowałam ktoś przy mnie był, leczenie na najwyższym poziomie, ludzie troskliwi i przemili, klinika bardzo czysta, jedzenie jak w dobrym hotelu. Szkoda, że spędziłam ostatnie 3 dni w szpitalu ale cieszę się, że w tak dobrym

The service is really good. We got picked up by the hospital, and they drove us and we only waited 2 minutes to be taken in. We had to stay over night, and we slept really good, and they came to check on us regularly. Hassan and Reynolds are 2 of the sweetest doctors/nurses in MedExpress. They always managed to keep a smil on our faces. The room have a TV with free netflix, and a mini fridge with sodas if you get thirsty. In the morning we got breakfast and the insurance was easy to figure out. In generel a super good hospital, and i recommend.

We were admitted together with my daughter, who had an ear infection, high leukocyte levels, and fever. From the very beginning, we received exceptional care and attention. The level of cleanliness, medical care, and overall organization was truly impressive. There were many doctors and nurses available at all times, and everything—from hygiene to food—was at a high European standard.
Honestly, we were quite worried at first, being in Zanzibar and not knowing what to expect from the hospital conditions. However, the reality exceeded all our expectations.
We are now safely back home and truly thankful for the care we received, which helped my daughter recover. We are very satisfied with everything.
All expenses were fully covered by our insurance—we didn’t have to pay anything, and no additional charges were requested. After our discharge, all medical reports and test results were sent to us promptly.

During our stay in Zanzibar, we were hospitalized for stomach problems (indigestion, abdominal pain). The care we received was excellent – the staff was attentive, explained everything thoroughly, and kept us updated on the results and treatment. I had a very positive experience at the hospital. All the staff were extremely kind and attentive and there was always someone around to answer any questions. They also helped us deal with our foreign insurance company. If you need any medical help, then this is the place to be.
I do not recommend this type of establishment, which only accepts insurance from foreign patients and requires prior authorization before billing. They deliberately prolong treatment for 24 hours to ensure authorization. The bill is exorbitant, and the treatments were fabricated.
My husband was admitted to MedExpress Hospital with double pneumonia while on vacation. The examination was prompt and highly competent, and the care during his 5-day stay was excellent. Many thanks to the doctors and nurses for their support during his recovery.

WARNING: This is a serious rip-off! I asked my Hotel for a Doctor since I suffered from diarrhea, within 35 minutes 2 guys should up, checked my blood pressure and quickly recommended to go with them to their hospital. Once there they gave me an infusion against de-hydration. After 1 hour I realized that they plan to keep me over night and also do various checks just to charge me for. When I asked to remove the infusion once done as I want to leave, they disappeared and played on time. I had to escalate about 4 times until they did let me go. One guy came with a weird story that the law would not allow them to let me go because of risk etc. I explained that I am a Swiss citizen and will inform the embassy about. The bill? 920 USD for infusion and blood tests (including COVID, no clue why). Please be careful and avoid this place. Too bad
The ladies at the reception were very welcoming, everything went very quickly. The doctor was very skilled and nice, I recommend the services of this hospital.
If I had been able to give 0 stars, I would have done so! What a terrible hospital. Ripping off tourists. We spent the whole day in the hospital just because of stomach complaints. All kinds of unnecessary tests and a box full of medication and antibiotics infuse, just to make as much money as possible. Insanely high costs, especially considering this is Africa. DO NOT GO HERE, ever!
Very friendly staff! Quick and helpful - while that is true I must update my review after exchanging emails with ZIC insurance (the one they MAKE you take at the airport even if you already have a travel insurance and give you no explanation whatsoever even though you keep asking question or any policy for you to review). Anyway, we enquired at the reception of Medexpress regarding ZIC insurance, they kept insisting we should use our own travel insurance, not being capable of explaining why the hell did we need ZIC insurance then. Eventually they said whatever money our travel insurance doesn’t refund, ZIC insurance would, we would just need to contact them AFTER. Lies.. ZIC insurance needs to be contacted before treatment takes place according to their policy (the one I never saw or was given a choice to choose 💁🏻♀️) and lets be honest, the ladies at the reception know that perfectly, it’s not their first rodeo. So medexpress and ZIC insurance just enjoy taking advantage of tourist in need of treatment with ridiculously high prices. Definitely avoid if you can or be very firm and make them contact ZIC insurance before you even go in for treatment… another update as an answer to our lovely medexpress response. My husband paid close to $500 to get a few spikes taken out of his foot. So yeah, ridiculously high prices 💁🏻♀️ but thank you so much for your answer. Not sure what was the point of it.
Very professional and high standards hospital, it was the only hospital in the south east coast region that was able to cure my moms stomach problems, previously, we were having a hard time finding her a proper hospital to cure her, we were recommended med express, they took very good care of her and treated her, very nice staff and hygienic standards are very high and they work well with our international insurance I would definitely recommend it.

Probably the last thing you would think of during your holidays is an accident. Especially, if you're far away from home when you are in the deepest heart of Africa. But believe me accidents happen and if so then MedExpress is the best place you may find. It is not only because the hospital has implemented the Quality Management System confirmed by ISO 9001 but also people who work there on each level of caring - warm and tender. Not to mention the doctors who are really proffessionalistst with years of experience gathered abroud, including the USA. What esle I may add? The building is completely modern one. Clean and safe. The medical equipment is at the highest world's level. After the treatment you will receive the complete medical report which includes descriptions, photos, X-rays needed for your further treatment when you are back home. And finally, the last but not least, you will not be hungry in the hospital. The list of meals you are offered to pick up from the menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner is amazing, and the food is delicious (from burgers to prawns). So, good luck, not have an accident, yet if you have them, you already know where to look for medical assistance.

Jeśli będziecie mieć jakikolwiek problem ze zdrowiem podczas pobytu na Zanzibarze to nie ma tam chyba lepszej kliniki. Spędziłam tam z córką pół dnia z powodu zatrucia, ale zrobiono jej badania krwi (w kierunku malarii i dengi), moczu, USG, dostała dwie kroplówki, leki do pokoju hotelowego. Klinika ma podpisaną umowę z Ergo Hestia, więc wizyta kosztowała mnie 25 €, ale ubezpieczyciel zwraca te koszty po powrocie do kraju. Lekarz i klinika kontaktowali się ze mną jeszcze następnego dnia, by zapytać o to jak córka się czuje.

Very good clinic. I called them at 7 in the morning, they sent ambulance to pick me up from the hotel. Clinic looks very good, staff was very professional. I was with an injury on my hand, solved by the doctor and the team in less than 1 hour. Also, they helped me with the papers for insurance and transfer back to my hotel.
I can't recommend Med Express in Paje enough! We've visited multiple times, driving all the way from Fumba Town, and it's always worth the trip. The facilities are top-notch, and the care from their world-class doctors is exceptional.

A wonderful hospital in Paje, Zanzibar. I was in intensive care there from November 19 to 22. They saved my life!!!! A very well-educated medical team. They speak English. There is everything in the hospital, a CT scanner, X-ray and a laboratory. Nursing care is available 24 hours a day. Professional medical beds. Very good food with a choice from the menu. This woman walked in with the confidence of someone who has never lost a game of Uno in her life. She looked at me, nodded once, and I swear I heard boss-battle music stop. Within minutes she had me patched up, powered up, and spiritually rebooted like a second-hand laptop running on pure hope.
I’m not saying she healed me like Jesus—but if she ever starts gliding across hallways or multiplying Panadol, I won’t question a single thing.
The nurses? Absolute legends. One gave me water so cold I’m convinced it was harvested from a glacier blessed by dolphins. The receptionist smiled at me like she already knew I’d survive, even though I arrived acting like I was filming my final scene.
By the time I left, I felt brand new—like a phone after a factory reset, minus the part where you lose all your photos.

We stayed for two nights and three days, and the care we received was excellent. All the staff — doctors, nurses, and assistants — were very kind, professional, and attentive at all times. They explained every step with great patience and made us feel safe and supported during a difficult moment.
We also had an issue with our insurance, and the hospital team immediately offered to help, which we truly appreciated. The facilities were clean and the atmosphere was calm, which made the stay much easier.

I was admitted to the hospital with very severe stomach pain and had no idea what was causing it — the pain was truly unbearable. The doctor saw me immediately, without any waiting. They took a blood test and performed an abdominal ultrasound. Within 25 minutes I was already in a room, connected to medication and pain relief, waiting for the test and ultrasound results.
The nurses were caring and quick to help — I felt surrounded by attention and support. I spent the night in the room, and it was comfortable; the meals (breakfast/lunch/dinner) were excellent.
The next day I felt better. The doctor visited me to provide medication and instructions for the next steps. The service standards are truly European — everything is new and modern, from the equipment to the medication.

Meine Freundin musste aufgrund eines Bakteriellen Infekts eine Nacht zur Behandlung vor Ort bleiben, ich konnte die ganze Zeit bei ihr sein und wurde rundum bestens versorgt. Das Personal war immer freundlich und sehr hilfsbereit.
Ich musste her wegen einer Infektion und blieb für eine Nacht. Der medizinische Service war sehr gut und das Personal wirklich sehr freundlich. Auch meine Begleitperson durfte die ganze Zeit in meinem Zimmer bleiben.
We arrived and immediately get to talk to a doctor. Everything was really well taken care of and got double checked. The front desk was helping with everything. Especially Agatha was always there to help and helped us to get through everything with the insurance. The hospital is very clean and uses modern technology.
Oh my god, this is the best hospital I've ever seen. It's very clean and cozy, everything is new, the ward is superb with smart TVs, beds that can be customized, a shower and toilet in the room, and other amenities. The meals are fantastic, three times a day, and there's even a mini fridge with drinks in the room. Everything is included. It's all about the ambiance. And most importantly, the staff is very friendly. They admitted me quickly, did all the tests and ultrasounds, prescribed treatment, and got me back on my feet in a day and a half. They measured my temperature, blood pressure, and pulse every three hours. A nurse or a doctor regularly checked in to see if I needed anything and how I was feeling. I was with my boyfriend as an escort, and I also had food, a bed, and full care. Everyone was super polite and caring—the doctors, the medical staff, and the girls at reception. Special thanks to Agata for her patience while we tried to contact the insurance company in Montenegro. She handled all the logistics, and it made our lives a lot easier.

Excellent service. Within 32 hours, I was examined and operated on for a broken wrist. The doctors and orthopedists were highly trained, and the nurses were very kind, helpful, and attentive. The cleaning was excellent, and the food was excellent. I had a great time at this facility with this staff.

W szpitalu wszytko przebiegło sprawnie i profesjonalnie. Lekarze wszytko wytłumaczyli, pobrano próbki do badań, zaaplikowano kroplówki nawadniające i odżywiające. Potwierdzono zatrucie bakteryjne. Hospitalizacja z jednym noclegiem, nawet ja dostałem obiad gdy przebywałem z żoną. Szpital nowy, czysty, niemalże sterylny. Recepcja zajęła się kwestiami formalnymi i zgłoszeniem roszczenia do ubezpieczyciela. Standard niespotykany w Europie, nawet w prywatnych jednostkach.

Doctors are amazing , nurses and staff are professional and really doing their best to properly attend your needs. The hospital itself is very clean too!

I spent 14 days in hospital with MedExpress in Paje leading up to and following abdominal surgery.
I can say without a hint of exaggeration that the care I received was exceptional. From the moment I was admitted, I was met with a very high level of expertise, incredible kindness, competence and genuine human warmth. This turned what could have been a frightening and traumatic experience into something reassuring and, in its own odd way, empowering.
The nursing staff were superb — attentive, gentle, endlessly patient and always ready with both professional care and good humour. Every single person I encountered, from the nurses to the support staff, contributed to an atmosphere of calm, kindness and quiet efficiency.
A special mention must go to Dr. Ayham, for his unfailing reassurance. He gave me the confidence I desperately needed at my time of need. I could not have asked for better medical care.
I will be forever grateful and actually glad that my health crisis happened here. If one must end up in hospital, I can’t imagine a better place to do so.

I was admitted to MedExpress for a little over a day, and honestly, it was one of the best hospital experiences I’ve ever had. The staff were incredibly kind, caring, and professional. They took the time to explain everything they did — what, why, when, and how — in a calm and reassuring way. I felt safe, listened to, and understood every single moment I was there.
They assigned me two primary nurses who alternated throughout my stay, which made everything feel very consistent and comforting. Everything ran smoothly, including the paperwork for my insurance, which can often be stressful but wasn’t at all in this case.
The service level was truly outstanding — not only did they take great care of me, but they also allowed my partner to stay with me, which meant a lot to both of us. We even got to order food from an external menu, and it was surprisingly delicious!
When I was discharged, the hospital arranged taxi transport to and from our hotel, which was such a thoughtful touch.
All in all, I can highly recommend MedExpress. The care, professionalism, and genuine compassion from the staff made my short stay feel safe and positive from beginning to end. I’m truly grateful for the excellent work they did!
Incredible service and staff at this hospital. Within 30mins of calling a doctor out to our hotel in the middle of the night we were at the hospital already being given multiple tests. The team got to the bottom of the problem by the morning and the next day with great treatment I was on the mend and able to enjoy the rest of my holiday.
Going into to hospital abroad is an unsettling experience but the staff couldn’t have been more reassuring and the hospital was clean and very comfortable. Even with my guest who stayed with me they went above and beyond to make both of us feel comfortable and supported.

I am absolutely impressed with the level of care we received. The service was revolutionary from the very beginning – they came to pick us up directly from our place and escorted us to a private room. My son had severe stomach problems, food poisoning, and dehydration. A very competent doctor and nurse arrived promptly, examined him thoroughly, and then took us to the hospital.
There, they ran all the necessary tests, provided very detailed examinations, and kept my son overnight for observation. The facility was extremely clean, the doctor was outstanding, and the entire team showed huge professionalism.

Medexpress hospital is a hospital, that makes you feel home away from home. The hospital took care of me really good. The nurses and doctors are excellent. The medical care is on a professional level and the staff took care of every problem I had during my stay. Also the receptionists were always there for me and did everything. They even came back for me with their ambulance car to the apartment right away as soon as I felt sick again. They were really and honestly the best. I felt safe and good during my stay. The hospital is beautiful, new, clean and it makes you feel relaxed also. Also you can choose from the menu and everyday you can have breakfast, lunch, dinner. Everyone is so nice and takes care for you.
Excellent care received We arrived early hours of the morning and they treated me with the best care possible from my nurse John. Then after when having trouble with insurance the receptionist Alpha was amazing with help we received. Also then taken us back to our location safely in the early hours of the morning.
We had a wonderful experience under the circumstances. The facility is new and clean and they can do x-rays, sonars, blood tests, you name it with a fast turn around. The food was fantastic. You could order off a menu and everything was well-prepared and delivered to your room. The staff were incredibly kind. Thank you to Dr. Ludovic who helped us from the hotel we stayed at to the facility in Paje. All the nurses, Risiki and Doreen, Dr. Rawaa, radiographer mr. Mkusi and the front desk lady ms. Imaculate.
